# Domains and DNS

> The DNS records Sendaloo asks for, and what each one is for.

A domain needs three kinds of record.

- **DKIM** (CNAME records): receiving servers check that a message was signed by your domain.
- **The sending subdomain** (an MX and an SPF TXT record on `send.<domain>`): where bounces return and which senders are allowed.
- **DMARC** (a TXT record on `_dmarc.<domain>`): what receivers should do with mail that fails the checks. An existing policy is never replaced.

Sendaloo never deletes a record you already have. If a record is missing the dashboard says which one.
